KOWR’s national stand at Sial China 2018 fair

The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) took part in the Sial China 2018, the biggest East Asian Food Fair which took place in Shanghai on 16 – 18 May 2018. For the sixth time the KOWR organized Polish national stand with the individual participation of entrepreneurs representing agri-food sector during those fairs.


At the stand with an area of 300 m2, 11 Polish companies, that produce among others fruit in chocolate, fruit mousses, cornflakes, crispbread, instant soups, plain toffees, lemonades, ciders, processed cheese, milk and whey powder, yoghurts, frozen pork meat, tea, syrups, rapeseed oil, mixtures for baking cakes and bread, baked goods and sweets, could promote their export offer.


On the first day of fair, Polish national stand was officially opened by Mr. Jacek Bogucki, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, who had also represented Poland during official opening of Sial China Fair. During a visit at Polish national stand Minister Bogucki took the opportunity to speak to each of Polish entrepreneurs present at the stand. Minister Bogucki took also part in cooking shows during which he could personally try the art of dumplings’ sticking.


That day KOWR’s stand was also visited by Mr. Phil Hogan, EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development.


Each day of the fair, the cooking shows that aimed at promotion of Polish cuisine and food as well as presentation of Poland as a traditional and simultaneously culinary modern country, were held at Polish national stand.


Under trade mission organized by the KOWR in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Shanghai, on the day preceding the beginning of fair (15th May 2018) Polish entrepreneurs could participate in workshops on preparing the export on Chinese market and take part in B2B talks with potential Chinese contractors. Those interested could also visit a G Super chain store specializing in imported food.


Moreover, on 17th May 2018, the entrepreneurs exhibiting at the KOWR’s stand could additionally take advantage of advice from the experts on Chinese market in framework of adapting their firms offer to the needs and expectations of Chinese importers, distributors and consumers.


That was one of several promotional and information events organized on Chinese market under the slogan “Poland tastes good” by the KOWR this year. That market is recognized as one of the prospective destinations for Polish agri-food export.
