The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) participated in Africa’s Big Seven trade show, the biggest food trade event in South Africa, which took place on 24-26 June 2018 in Johannesburg. The KOWR organized a Polish national stand including Polish agri-food companies for the third time at the show.

The Polish national stand (54 m²) presented the offer of six Polish agri-food companies. The offer included: fudges, chocolates, pralines, candies, chocolate-coated fruits and vegetable preparations.

During the second day of the event, the Head of Politics and Economic Section of the Polish Embassy in Pretoria Mr Krzysztof Bielaj visited the Polish national stand and talked to Polish entrepreneurs participating in the show.

Cooking shows were organized every day at the Polish stand. They were aimed at promoting Poland as a country that follows its traditions as well as modern cooking trends. Our chefs prepared traditional dishes, which were then offered to the guests visiting the stand.

As part of the economic mission organized by the KOWR, during two days before the Africa’s Big Seven show, meetings were held for Polish entrepreneurs and representatives of local retail chains and distributors. In order to create the most comfortable conditions for business meetings, the mission was divided into two days. It was dedicated to potential business partners and to retail chains of the biggest cities of South Africa (Johannesburg and Cape Town).

Polish entrepreneurs took part in visits to the largest retail chains such as Shoprite and Pick’n’Pay. Additionally, entrepreneurs interested in the assortment and offer of their competitors had the opportunity to participate in the store-check in Shoprite, Checkers Hyper, Pick’n’Pay and Spar.

The KOWR has been organizing a number of promotional and informational events in Africa this year, the mission to South Africa being one of them. The South African market is considered to be a promising direction for the Polish agri-food export.
