The Annapoorna – World of Food India 2018 fair was held in Mumbai on 26-29 September 2018. The National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) once again organised a Polish national stand under the banner “Poland tastes good” during the event.
Implementing the measures promoting Polish agri-food products on foreign markets, the KOWR allowed nine Polish companies to present their offer to potential foreign customers at the stand with an area of 72 m2. The companies represented the following sectors: confectionery, fruit and vegetables, processed fruit and vegetables, dairy, cereal products and spirits.
On the first day of the fair, the Polish national stand was officially opened by the Deputy Head of Mission, First Counsellor and Head of the Political Section at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in India, Mr Robert Dziedzic.
The Polish presence in the fair was accompanied by a trade mission organised by the KOWR in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Mumbai. Under this event, a seminar was organised on the Indian agri-food market and business culture in India. B2B meetings with representatives of Indian companies were also held as part of the mission.
The representatives of Polish companies also had an opportunity to become familiar with the product range and prices on the Indian market, through participation in a trip around retail points (a so-called store-check). The operators visited stores of two Indian retail chains – Haiko Supermarket and Nature Basket.
On all days of the fair, the Polish national stand hosted cooking shows organised by the KOWR and combined with tastings of traditional Polish dishes, which attracted numerous visitors interested in Polish culinary traditions.
The Annapoorna – World of Food India 2018 fair is an opportunity to establish business contacts and find alternative outlet markets for Polish products. Agri-food operators indicated India as one of prospective markets for the Polish export. The numerous population and cultural diversification of the country are the reasons why India is perceived as an attractive outlet market for Polish food producers.
