Gulfood is regarded as one of the most important events in the food industry in the world. About 5,000 exhibitors from 150 countries participated in this year's edition of the fair. This event provides an excellent opportunity to establish new business contacts with potential partners from the UAE, other Arab countries, as well as from other Asian and African countries.
Gulfood is also an important event for Polish companies interested in introducing their products to the UAE market and markets of neighboring countries. This year's edition of the fair was attended by ca. 80 exhibitors from Poland, representing a broad spectrum of Polish food industry.
Polish national stand hosted 34 exhibitors during this year's edition of the fair. It consisted of the main stand in the Power Brands hall (Za’abeel Plaza) and two stands located in industry sectors, i.e. in the dairy hall (Al Multaqua 2) and in the hall dedicated to beverages (Za’abeel Hall 6).
In the Power Brands hall, an information stand was organized under the Sector Promotion Program for Polish food specialties implemented under sub-measure 3.3.2. "Promotion of the economy based on Polish product brands - Brand of the Polish Economy - Go to Brand" Intelligent Development Operational Program (PO IR). Culinary shows were held at the stand every day of the fair. They were aimed at promoting Polish cuisine and food as well as presenting Poland as a country boasting great traditional cuisine and modern culinary flair.
The official opening of the Polish national stand took place during the first day of the exhibition and was led by Mr. Robert Rostek, the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the UAE, and Mr. Radosław Rygalski, Deputy Director of the Export Support Department at the KOWR.
During each day of the exhibition, meetings were held at the Polish national stand to connect Polish exhibitors with representatives of Arab institutions and companies. The meetings offered the opportunity to facilitate the functioning of Polish companies on the UAE market. They were organized with the support of Ms. Katarzyna Rzeźniczek, Counselor for Agricultural Affairs at the of the Republic of Poland in Abu Dhabi.
Individual business consultative meetings were also held for Polish companies with representatives of local entrepreneurs. They were organized with the support of Gulf Business Link and focused on the possibilities and conditions of selling agri-food products to the UAE and to the Gulf market, taking as an example the commercial policy pursued in the company of the exhibitor concerned.
During the last day of the exhibition, the workshop was held with an expert of the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology (ESMA). It concerned the new standards and norms for agri-food products imported to the market of the United Arab Emirates.
The success of this year's edition of Gulfood was proven by the immense interest in the offer of Polish exhibitors as well as numerous business meetings held by Polish companies at the stand.
