For the fourth time, the National Support Centre for Agriculture (the KOWR) participated in the Annapoorna Anufood India 2019 fair (formerly known as Annapoorna – World of Food India) held on 29-31 August in Mumbai.

In the framework of the activities to promote Polish agri-food products on foreign markets the KOWR organised the national stand of 72 m2 under the banner “Poland tastes good”. At the stand 9 Polish companies representing various food sectors including dairy products, fresh, frozen and dried fruit, confectionery, cold brew teas, meat products and caviar, presented their offer to potential foreign customers. The presented products generated great interest among the visitors at the fair.

On the first day of the fair, the Polish national stand was officially opened by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai, Mr Damian Irzyk, and the Vice-President of the Indo-Polish Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Ms Lucyna Jaremczuk.

The Polish exhibition at the fair was accompanied by an economic mission organised by the KOWR in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Office of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency in Mumbai. As part of that event, an information meeting on the Indian agri-food market and a B2B session with representatives of Indian customers were organised.

The representatives of Polish companies also had an opportunity to become familiar with a product range and prices on the Indian market thanks to participation in a store-check. The entrepreneurs visited the Mumbai chains selling imported products: Nature’s Basket and Foodhall.

Each day of the fair cooking shows and food tastings were held at the national stand organised by the KOWR, in order to promote Polish cuisine, food and the image of Poland as a country combining traditional cuisine with modern culinary trends.

The Annapoorna Anufood India fair is an opportunity to establish trade contacts and find alternative export market for Polish goods. India is indicated by entrepreneurs as one of prospective markets for Polish food export. The large population of this country and its cultural diversity make this market a potential attractive outlet for Polish food producers.
