During this year’s edition of the exhibition Poland was represented by the National Support Centre for Agriculture (KOWR) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development at a stand of 143 m2 in the Hall 11.2 as well as the Marshal’s Offices of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian, Wielkopolskie and Lower Silesian Voivodeships at stands with a total area of 193 m2. Polish representation included also the Organisation of Producers of Sturgeon Fish with a stand of 56 m2 and several stands of individual companies in other sectors.
The Polish national stand was officially opened on the 17 January 2020 by Mr. Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski –Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr Janusz Wojciechowski – EU Commissioner for Agriculture, and Mr Grzegorz Pięta – General Director of the KOWR. The ceremony was also attended by the representatives of the Polish Embassy in Berlin Mr Janusz Styczek – Deputy Ambassador, Ms Ewa Kowalewska-Borys – First Secretary, and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The exhibition "Grüne Woche" in Berlin is one of world's largest exhibition dedicated to food, agriculture and gardening. Each year, a wide range of international food products of all types is presented, including fruit, vegetables, dairy products, breads and cakes, cured meats and sausages, seafood, beverages, spices, as well as agricultural and gardening machines, fishing products, farm and domestic animals.
Information and promotion displays for Polish entrepreneurs were organized at the Polish national stand enabling 14 exhibiting companies to present their offer and sell their products. The offer of sub-exhibitors included a wide range of products: goose products, fruit and vegetable preserves such as jams, fruit syrups, pickles, fermented beet juice, blueberry preserves – jams, juices, fermented products, creams, cottage cheese, butter, sturgeon caviar, milk thistle (silybum marianum), venison, bread and pastry, organic haskap berry juice, hazelnuts, wholemeal cakes, muesli, pretzels, bread, traditional unpasteurized beer and coffee.
For the first three days of the exhibition, the KOWR provided a musical setting at the Polish national stand, so that visitors could listen to Polish feast and entertainment music. Live cooking shows were organized at the stand during all exhibition days. They were led by Polish chefs and offered the opportunity for the guests to taste the flavors of Polish cuisine, and thus also Polish culinary tradition and culture.
